Best Time to Visit Hunza Valley — A Season-by-Season Guide

Hunza is worth visiting most of the year, but which season suits you depends on what you want from the trip.

Spring (late March – May): This is cherry and apricot blossom season, at its peak from late March to mid-April. The valley turns pink and white against the snow-capped Karakoram peaks — the single most photographed stretch of the Hunza calendar. Book hotels well ahead; this window fills up fast.

Summer (June – August): Warm, clear days, all roads and trails open, and the busiest season for trekking, boating on Attabad Lake, and family trips. Expect higher prices and fuller hotels than shoulder season.

Autumn (September – October): Our pick for photography and a quieter trip — golden poplar and orchard colour against the mountains, cooler air, and noticeably fewer tourists than summer.

Winter (November – March): Cold and quiet, with some routes affected by snow. Only worth it if you specifically want a snow-season trip and are prepared for limited services.

If you want one answer: April for blossoms, July–August for full access and activities, late September–October for colour and fewer crowds. See our Hunza tour packages →
