Route & Road Conditions: The drive from Islamabad via the Swat Motorway (M-16) to Chakdara and onwards via Dir Road to Thal takes roughly 8 to 9 hours. From Thal, you must switch to local 4x4 jeeps to enter Kumrat forest or head toward Jahaz Banda base.
Highlights:
- Dense deodar forest walks along the Panjkora River.
- The Kumrat Waterfall and Do Kala Chashma.
- Trek to Jahaz Banda meadows and the alpine Katora Lake (approx. 3-4 hours moderate hike from Jahaz Banda).
Best Time to Visit: May to September offers lush greenery and open trails. Pack warm layers even in mid-summer as night temperatures drop sharply.
